Katelyn is a graduating senior this year, and getting to do her senior portraits was such a great experience for me. Not only did we get out into the great outdoors (and how gorgeous is that water?), I got to get to know her and all the things she loves. She is passionate and kind, and full of life. Of course, she is excited for graduation, but also for the exciting future she is stepping into. For her shoot, we captured her in studio, downtown for an editorial look, and outside in some picturesque nature settings. One thing that she did well was choose absolutely perfect outfits; I love when outfits have just a little bit of texture and interest to them, because it can add depth without adding clutter or distraction. With pops of berry, green, and blue, every outfit was just right to bring out her eyes and give a little bit of movement to this session.
Choosing the outfits can be the thing that causes many seniors (and their parents) a major headache. Maybe the things you love are too expensive, or maybe you and your parent disagree on what is ideal for a senior photoshoot outfit. I’ve just about seen and heard it all, but what I’ve learned is that classic lines, fabrics, and colors always look best. Your photos won’t look as dated as quickly, and you’ll feel confident and beautiful. The most important thing is the fit, so don’t be afraid to hire a professional tailor to hem up things that are too long, to pull in sleeves that are too baggy, or even add darts to dresses that don’t fit quite right.
