Why Should I Book Early?

I receive many last minute requests for senior portraits, and while I absolutely hate turning anyone away, I am often fully booked up to six months (or more) in advance. I don’t think many students and their parents or guardians realize that senior season starts much earlier than anticipated these days. Yes, there are always a few latecomers, but because of the competitive nature of photography AND the many deadlines that are places on juniors and seniors, most opt to have their shoot done quite early on in the year. If you’re wondering why the best dates go so fast, here are just a few reasons by booking early is your best bet!

-You’ll have a barrage of deadlines coming your way: Junior and senior year are filled with scholarship deadlines, assignments, senior projects, and college visits. Your calendar may not look full yet, but it’s great to get a senior session date early on, so that you can give your full attention to college prep later. It also makes sure that you can choose from our premiere dates, instead of having to rearrange your schedule to fit what we have left. The early bird really does get the worm, so to speak, and I often hear how seniors feel relieved that they did their shoot before things got crazy!

-Your photographer has limited availability: I keep many of my days and times wide open during senior season, but I also only accept a limited amount of clients each year in order to provide the maximum level of service and attention to each one. This means sometimes I do have to turn away a junior or senior client, because my schedule cannot accommodate them.

-You will have your images early on, and can get more mileage out of them! Having your senior photos done in advance means you will also receive your images, prints, and products before many of your friends. You won’t risk feeling like you are “copying” their poses or outfits, and you will be the trendsetter among your peers! You will also have more time left during high school to enjoy the portraits and use them for graduation parties, announcements, scholarship applications and essays when needed, and even job resumes. You will be able to order gifts and products for family and friends, and be sure you have a gorgeous image for that ever-important senior yearbook.

-You will have time to budget and prepare: The further out that you book your shoot, the more time you will allow yourself to prepare your outfits, shop and plan out ensembles, and save a little money by waiting for great deals. You will also be able to save a little up for the heirloom quality prints and products that you want (we recommend saving up a little each month to offset a large purchase of our collections and items), and it will put less strain on your or your parents when it comes time to pay the balance.

If you haven’t booked your senior shoot yet, don’t panic! Just reach out to us directly, and see what our availability is. We do our very best to accommodate even those who are booking relatively late, and we will guide you through the process to try to meet your needs.
