Home is the place of refuge, where everything feels right in the world. And these days, with so much turmoil throughout our world, home is more important than ever. I really loved this session with the sweet Torrey family. They are a joyous, delightful quartet (plus their beloved pets), and I feel gratitude that they allowed me this peek into their family life.
An at-home session isn’t for everyone and some families express concern that their home isn’t “pretty enough” or decorated perfectly. Others wonder if there is enough natural light, or if it’s too cluttered. I really want you to know that none of these things matter when it comes time for a lifestyles session. I have found families actually relax more in their own homes, because they feel safe. This is especially true for children, because they are eager to show off favorite toys, their usual reading nooks, or special pets. You can see how relaxed and comfortable these two little guys are in their own space.
Are you wondering if a lifestyle session is right for you? This is a great option for:
-People who have moved into a new house and want to celebrate their move with photos.
-Families with little ones who are not comfortable in front of the camera, to ease them in.
-People who really love their home, and have put work into creating a haven for their family.
There are actually very few families for whom a in-home session wouldn’t work…it’s a great idea to mix things up if you’re used to a more traditional outdoor or studio session. Many families choose it for a fresh take on family photos, or if you have a newborn and it’s easier to be at home. I’d love to talk to you if you’re interested in this type of shoot, and answer any of your questions!
