What? You don’t think sunflowers and onion harvesters go together at a wedding? In Elba, Onion Capital of the World, they do!
Meet Sarah and Matt. These adorable kids were born and raised here in Elba. Sarah’s family owns business were they build onion harvesters that ship all over the world! Matt grew up just down the road from Sarah (literally!) and he now works for Sarah’s family. The onion harvester you see in the pictures Matt helped build and will soon be heading to New Zealand! If this story wasn’t adorable enough Matt’s sister and Sarah’s brother are dating! Usually when there is a wedding they say it’s two families becoming one, but truthfully these two families didn’t need a wedding to become one! They already are! <3
They held the ceremony in one of our little country churches that Sarah’s family attends. It was so simple and included a bell ringing at the end of the ceremony! The reception was held at the victorian mansion in Albion called the Pillars. It was the backdrop for some amazing images!
It’s was a great day for these two, a little warm, but beautiful! This small bridal party was so special as they were all important people in the bride and groom’s lives! One of the best moments of the day is when we went to the VA hospital to see Matt’s grandfather. Matt’s grandfather, whom I used to work with many years ago, is battling alzheimers. We all prayed and hoped he would be up to pictures that day….and he was! Even brought many laughs to us all! 🙂 It was the first time I truly cried at a wedding. I get teary eyed all the time at weddings, that’s not too uncommon but thankfully I have a camera to hide behide and usually no one notices. This past Saturday though seeing Matt’s grandfather so different from years ago….well it was a bit overwhelming for me. Diseases that steal our loved ones just suck. We were all SO thankful he was up to pictures but it was just a little bittersweet for me to see him so different.
As I share this wonderful wedding with you I hope your embrace your life and memories! In September our family will be walking in our local Alzheimer walk to raise money for a cure! Kristin and I truly thank Matt and Sarah for letting us be part of an AMAZING day! It was perfect from start to finish…and they even had fireworks! The dance floor was packed and everyone had a ball!!! I can’t wait to see where life takes these two. Thankfully I live in this wonderful small town so I will be able to see them here and there. 🙂
