Not only is the fall season one of the prettiest here in New York, but it’s also the perfect time to book your upcoming senior session. Although senior year has looked different for many students, it also deserves to be marked as the amazing milestone that it is. Doing senior photos this year is not something you want to skip just because of the pandemic putting a damper on other senior year festivities…it’s an extra-special memory for you, and a tangible celebration for your parents and loved ones. Here are some reasons why the autumn season is one of my most popular times to book:
-The changing colors: Okay, this one might be obvious, but you can never underestimate the gorgeous ruby red, bright orange, and vibrant yellow tones that come out during the fall here in Elba. They are universally flattering for every student, and look cozy and warm because of the hues. The leaves and trees make for a beautiful backdrop for everything from a casual look to formalwear, and they also meld well into home decor when they are hung up on the wall.
-The wardrobe: I LOVE a great fall wardrobe. The textures and depth to a fall sweater, boots, jeans, and jackets really lend themselves to images that have lots of interest. I encourage my clients to choose pretty neutrals that have different textures like corduroy, suede, chenille or velvet. While these don’t look overly busy, they do draw the eye around the images and add lots of visual aspects. Fall wardrobes are also very flattering on everyone, and can be easily amped up with accessories like scarves and hats, giving you plenty of versatility.
-The timing: Doing your images in the fall season gives you plenty of time before graduation to have your photos ready for all that you need them for: graduation invitations, announcements, or for a party (maybe a virtual one if you are in an area that isn’t yet encouraging group activities). Doing them in the fall also sets up to be one of the frontrunners among your friends, which means you don’t risk repeating the same location or trends as others. Your images will be the trendsetters! It also crosses one more thing off the long lists of things to do during senior year (a relief for you and your parents!).
-The memories: Senior year can be quite stressful, depending on your college preparations, your scholarship applications, and other arrangements that need to be made. Doing your senior photos during the fall creates a special experience of pampering and luxury before you get rolling into such a busy time of your life. It allows you to relax, to have fun, and to create a lasting memory of a time in your life that won’t ever happen again!
