Yay! My new website is finally here! 🙂 I started working on this in NOVEMBER! So as you can imagine, I am SO excited today to share with you my new brand and matching website! I have thought long and hard about giving my business a new look and well here it is!
Here is the new LAURA LUFT PHOTOGRAPHY amazing BRAND NEW website designed by the awesome JULIE STORY. This lovely lady is so creative and uplifting! I knew what I always wanted to give my clients…and Julie helped me to put it into a brand and website! I am very blessed to have crossed paths with her and been able to tap into your creative juices! I also need to thank her for dealing with my questions and lack of understanding in general when it comes the website design! (WAY over this Farmgirl’s head!) She is so fabulous!!! I hope you love the website….there a few minor changes yet to be made but I just had to share it!!! 🙂
This journey of having my own business, after self teaching myself photography, I feel is finally where I have wanted it to be. I know after trying many types of photography from weddings, to families, to baptisms to senior portraits, I know where I want to focus my love of photography.
You see when I started this business I just wanted to offer good pictures for a reasonable price for families. This idea could let me make my own schedule for my family and my children while having a little income. As I became busier in my business I quickly realized what exactly goes into having a photography business (many costs I hadn’t realize until I was RUNNING a photography business)-paying taxes, paperwork, advertising, the cost of gear, insurance, lots of business stuff and TIME. I quickly realized that my idea of “reasonable pricing” for the amount of time I put into a session worked out to be minium wage (or less). Why would I own my own business to work for minor wage? I had to take a leap of faith a few years ago and raise pricing to justify the time away from my children and clear a small profit. Time, I have quickly realized, was/is the important resource in my business…not the money I have spent on cameras. It’s the time with my family that means the most to me! My children, my husband and my family are number one. I have been INCREDIBLY BLESSED with amazing clients who appreciate all the time and effort I make into to every session. They have shown me SO much love over the years and let me know they value me and my pricing.
I put SO many hours into each and every session and editing it’s crazy, BUT true! I have spent days away from my own family doing workshops with some of the GREATS in our industry like Katelyn James, Trevor Dayley, Justin and Mary to just name a few. At every workshop I went to I met amazing photographers and a lot of them!
I LOVE wedding photography and always will! I love my partner Kristin, our assistant Janie and I LOVE the team we are together and more importantly…..I LOVE the results we give our couples. Seriously LOVE. [lots of love in the air today! 😉 ] There is a magic about weddings that no other photography provides! Goosebumps worthy feeling for weddings! (and Yes I tear up at EVERY wedding behind my camera!)
I LOVE the chemistry of a family session as well! Seriously so fun watching children and parents interact! I especially love how I have watched many families grow over the years and our yearly sessions are how I get to see and love these children and their parents!
In the last year I have grown to have a new love…Seniors. I find I am drawn to them. I love the time in their life that they are in and I LOVE empowering them. I want to make them realize what a great time they are in right now! I have, more than once, had a parent call or text me shortly after a session and thank me for helping their child embrace who they are.
For me high school was great, I loved it and my friends. I was lucky to have a wonderful time….but I honestly don’t think I knew who I was. Looking back now I think I was always comparing myself to others in high school. I never stopped to think how I, just being me, was pretty cool and different from everyone else. We, in general, forget that different is good!
The last year I have done a little soul searching. We have had people pass away, heard of tragedies and realize that in an instant life can completely change. I never want to look back on life and regret NOT attending a friend’s gathering or an important day in my child’s life because I was photographing a session…or worse-editing. As I said above…you will NEVER get this time back or today back.
With the new LAURA LUFT PHOTOGRAPHY brand I going to be offering luxury photography to my clients. I have always prided myself in running my business on quality sessions not quantity. When you book a wedding with me….I don’t book ANYTHING the days before your wedding, and the day before your wedding I travel to your wedding venue on the timeline we designed together to see exactly what the lighting is going to be during each part of your time line. All my gear is gone through the day before a wedding and charged and cleaned. I have a packet of information I get ready for your wedding day and we carry and emergency kit for your wedding day that has everything from bandaids to tissues. We provide a luxury service because you deserve it! Your wedding is never happening again….so therefore we are flawless for you! Your wedding pictures last forever!!!
My senior sessions are NO different! I meet with every client BEFORE their session to get to know them AND brainstorm for their awesome session! I also pull out of them who they are and then we focus their session around that! We talk about outfits, locations, hair and make up and what makes them….them! After your session we also get together to see your images for the first time together! I want to make sure you LOVE them!!!! I am not the photographer for you if you are just looking for some senior pictures. HOWEVER if you are looking for a session of AWESOMENESS for senior pictures….I’m your photographer! I LIVE to make you look AMAZING!!!! It seriously gives me happiness! I love editing and getting to pictures that literally take my breath away! You deserve that because you are gorgeous!
I don’t do this business because it’s my job, I do this because I LOVE photographing people and making them feel BEAUTIFUL!!!! I LOVE showing YOU just how AMAZING you are!! I love being your FIRST Senior year experience in your unforgettable ONCE IN A LIFETIME Senior year! I love showing seniors how beautiful they both inside and out! I put SO much time and effort into EVERY senior session because EACH senior is different and deserves to SHINE!
With the new LAURA LUFT PHOTOGRAPHY brand I am announcing that I will be focusing my business now on Seniors more. I LOVE my families and weddings…BUT what works for MY family is Senior sessions. My children are now into many activities and my husband was blessed with a new Monday thru Friday job (he used to work all over the place)…I want my weekends free now to be with MY family.
I know that families like weekends for sessions as it’s easier for them, but it takes me from my own family. After lots of thinking I thought focusing on Seniors is a great option! So does this mean I won’t do weddings or families anymore?! Oh gosh no! I will still do them here and there, but my focus with be on Seniors. I will also be offering mini-session days for families as well, (I would be SERIOUSLY heartbroken to not see “my” families anymore!) and I will always do a wedding that doesn’t conflict with our family’s schedule.
This is VERY exciting for me in that I can “specialize” in being totally awesome in one thing…..SENIORS!!!! I have some exciting workshops already booked for later this year with some AMAZING senior photographers in the industry so that I will continue my education and provide awesome results for my clients. I am SO excited for this new direction for my business and to blossom for me, my family AND my clients. I ONLY want to give the best!
